F-1 is now in orbit! This is our first space mission so we would like to ask the amateur radio community to help in tracking and receiving data from F-1 CubeSat. Please visit For radio operators and download our new version F-1 Telemetry Decoder (updated 4 October 2012)
Special thanks to: Ian King, Mike DK3WN, Dmitry Pashkov, Mineo JE9PEL, Fred Pace and many others.. for helping us to tracking and listening to F-1.

According to the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), the demonstration of small satellites deployment from the Japanese Experiment Module “Kibo” of the International Space Station (ISS) is scheduled for September 27. All 5 CubeSats are mounted in a JEM-Small Satellite Orbital Deployer (J-SSOD). In one POD are FITSAT-1, F-1 and TechEdSat in the second POD is WeWish and a scientific 2U CubeSat RAIKO. Please note that F-1 transmits telemetry beacon on 145.980MHz (1k2 AFSK) and PWM CW beacon on 437.485MHz (FM).
Music clip “Vietnam’s orbit” by Truong Quy Hai Memories of building F-1 CubeSat
At 11:06am local time (9:09am Vietnam time), the HII-B rocket successfully launched HTV-3 transfer vehicle carrying F-1 and companion CubeSats to orbit. 15 minutes after launch, HTV-3 (KOUNOTORI3) successfully separated, initiated communications with Tsukuba, establised 3-axis attitude control and completed the first phase maneuver (PM1). It is on course for docking with the International Space Station in about 5 days. USSTRATCOM catalogued first element set for Object 38706/2012-038A indicating the following orbit at epoch 0436UTC today: 184.7km x 304.6km x 51.66° TLE: HTV-3 (KOUNOTORI 3) 1 38706U 12038A 12203.65246830 -.00003598 11374-4 00000+0 0 86 2 38706 51.6555 311.7655 0053635 311.6336 193.9314 16.03010062 … Continue reading
At the Vehicle Assembly Building (VAB) of the Tanegashima Space Center (TNSC), final preparation for KOUNOTORI-3 (HTV-3) launch continues. On July 9, final inspection was performed, and no NG (Not Good) was found from the vehicle. From July 13 to 15, a rehearsal was conducted simulating the launch operation. Late access cargo loading will continue until July 19. Then the hatch will be closed, and HIIB/KOUNOTORI3 will be carried to the launch pad. The target launch date and time for KOUNOTORI3 is still at 11:06 a.m. (JST, UTC+9), July 21, 2012.
